First-Year Engineering Conference

All first-year engineering students at the University of Pittsburgh are required to participate in the First Year Engineering Conference, which consists of a group research paper and presentation on a topic of their choosing.

Our group decided to write about a cutting-edge project developed by researchers from SLAC National Labatory that they call “Accelerator-on-a-Chip (ACHIP). This scaled down particle accelerator is not only fascinating technology, but its potential applications in the medical field are astounding.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused an abrupt cancellation of the conference, meaning that the paper was never professionally presented. However, it was completed and received a grade of 100. You can view it here:
